As a computer user, there is going to be a time when you will need to find your laptop IP address. It could be that you want to setup internet connect or simply want others to connect to you. Some other time, you need to diagnose and issue. Whatever the reason you may need to find your IP address on your laptop, here is how to easily find it on windows 7 and higher windows.
To find your laptop IP address this way, hit your start button. The start key on your keyboard is the one with the window icon just by Alt key. Tap that and select control panel to go to network connection. Note, this method apply to window 7 only.
When control panel opens, in the search box, type the word adapter to reveal network and sharing.Under Network and Sharing Center, select View network connections.
Now select an active network connection. The one without an X sign. This means you must be connected to a network or internet at this time. Then in the toolbar, click or select View status of this connection.
When you click status of the connection, a window will pop up just bellow. Click or select details to see your computer IP address.

Command Prompt Method
Select start menu as above and type cmd in the search bar and hit enter.
When the command opens, type in “ipconfig/all” and hit enter.
There you have your computer IP address.
